Arsenal eyeing transfer opportunity for 19-year-old who could be next Martin Odegaard

Arsenal has reportedly made contact regarding Real Madrid midfielder Arda Güler, according to Spanish outlets.

The 19-year-old joined Real Madrid from Fenerbahçe last year in a €20 million (£17 million) transfer, featuring in 12 La Liga matches during his debut season.

Despite showcasing his potential for Turkey at Euro 2024, Güler has struggled to secure consistent playing time under Carlo Ancelotti this season, starting only three of Real Madrid’s 17 matches across all competitions.

Reports from *Sport* suggest the midfielder is unhappy with his limited role and is seeking more opportunities with the Spanish champions. Arsenal has allegedly reached out to Güler’s representatives to assess his interest in a Premier League switch.

The Gunners reportedly view Güler’s situation as reminiscent of Martin Ødegaard’s journey, where he initially struggled at Real Madrid before flourishing at Arsenal. Ødegaard joined the North London side on loan in 2021 and later signed a permanent deal for £30 million.

When questioned about Güler and fellow young talent Endrick, Ancelotti remarked, *“Endrick is ready to play, doing very well, and showing a lot of quality in training. I say the same thing about Güler. These are young players pushing. The main goal is to turn things around as quickly as possible, not just allocate minutes to one player over another.”*
