Man City fans call for player to be dropped after Newcastle draw as they fume ‘yet again’

City took the lead in the first half with a remarkable goal from Josko Gvardiol, but they conceded an equalizer just 10 minutes into the second half. Anthony Gordon won a penalty after being fouled by City goalkeeper Ederson while he was clear on goal.

Gordon stepped up to take the penalty, successfully placing the ball into the bottom left corner, opposite to where Ederson dove.

Replays revealed that Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon expertly broke the offside trap as he charged toward goal. Although City defenders Josko Gvardiol, Ruben Dias, and Manuel Akanji positioned themselves in front of him, it was Kyle Walker who inadvertently kept Gordon onside. This decision frustrated City fans, with one commenting, “Kyle Walker once again playing someone onside because he’s ball watching.”

One fan summarized, “Kyle Walker is Guardiola’s biggest blind spot. I don’t understand how he can start after last weekend’s disaster.” Another added, “Walker always playing everyone onside, goodness me.” A third simply stated, “Kyle Walker again and again and again.”

Walker has recently returned to the starting lineup after missing the beginning of the season post-Euro 2024. In the match against Newcastle, usual right-back Rico Lewis filled in at midfield due to Rodri’s injury from the Arsenal game.

This week, it was confirmed that Rodri suffered an ACL injury, sidelining him for the rest of the season. As a result, Guardiola has started Walker at right-back in both the Carabao Cup match against Watford and the fixture against Newcastle
