Manchester City forward Jack Grealish has revealed that his new celebration is for his newborn daughter after scoring in England’s 3-1 Nations League victory against Finland.
Grealish opened the score for the Three Lions in the first half, converting a wonderful through pass from Angel Gomes. As he wheeled away in joy, the 29-year-old could be seen sucking his thumb at the camera, which must have been an emotional moment for his girlfriend Sasha Atwood.
Attwood gave birth to Mila Rose at the end of September, but Grealish only made the announcement to the public last week. When asked about the full-time celebration on ITV Sport, the City actor replied, “Yeah [that celebration was] for my little girl, bless her.”
“I am really thrilled, so that one’s for her.” Manchester City supporters will hope to see a lot more of that celebration as the season unfolds.
Grealish has not scored in the Premier League for Pep Guardiola’s team, but he has two assists. The England international has been more important to Guardiola this season than he was last, when he was on the periphery of the City club, to the point that he missed out on a spot in England’s European Championship squad.
