THOUGH MACANTHONY
EFL chairman MacAnthony, who is in charge of Peterborough in League One, does not believe that any significant action will be done since Juve lost a trophy in the 2006 Calciopoli incident. โI donโt know what the rule is that relates to such allegations,โ he said to talkSPORT. Iโm not aware of the penalty. Iโm not aware of any such precedents. Is each charge worth two points? Itโs all gibberish, in my opinion, but Iโm sure the media will run headlines like โrelegation,โ โbanned,โ and โleague championships from the past handed back.โ I know that occurred in Italy, but I donโt think you can undo the past, and I donโt like that.
โEveryone in sport tries to manipulate. Let me speak for the EFL; Iโm not claiming Man City has done this. In order to recruit players and assemble the strongest team possible, everyone tries to go around the system despite the pay ceilings, regulations, and other restrictions. Iโm not claiming that anyone is disobeying the law or any regulations, but there is undoubtedly rule-bending occurring, and the Premier League is no exception. Furthermore, I just believe that Man City, given who they are and what they have accomplished over the past ten years, are a prime target for media attention. Therefore, I just advise waiting it out and watching what transpires in the end.

WERE YOU AWARENESS?
As the FFP drama continues, questions about Pep Guardiolaโs future at City are also being raised. MacAnthony commented on the matter, saying that the Catalan coach of the Blues is entering the last year of his contract and that โI canโt speak for Pep but I think heโs done six years, maybe more, oh eight years, which is probably a long old period for him.โ He may be similar to Jurgen Klopp in that, after winning X amount consecutively for another year, he would think, โYou know what? I must take a year off.
โThis is an intense game, and I can appreciate what Jurgen Klopp did.โ Being an owner or manager is challenging enough; the rat race that has been going on for the past four years since Covid is unrelenting. These folks go through the motions when you discuss physical and mental wellness. I can only speculate as to how Pepโs body and mind are feeling, and itโs possible that he needs some time off. โPep, take a year off. Weโll stick your number two in charge for a year and you can come back after a lovely rest,โ would be my response if I were Man City. With Jurgen, I would have taken such action.
Next?
With their four consecutive Premier League titles, City has completely changed the annals of history. They will play preseason friendlies against AC Milan, Barcelona, and Chelsea in the United States before beginning their defense of that title on August 18 at Stamford Bridge.
