Arsenal fans have been left furious after they dropped more points in a 1-1 draw at Fulham – and are demanding that Mikel Arteta makes a key change.
The Gunners fell behind in the first half when Raul Jimenez found the net, but they leveled the score after the break with William Saliba heading in from close range. Arsenal posed a consistent threat from set pieces and crosses into the box and believed they had secured a late victory through Bukayo Saka. However, VAR ruled the England winger offside, and Arsenal couldn’t find the decisive goal to close the gap on league leaders Liverpool to just four points.
Fans of the Gunners feel that Mikel Arteta needs to make a critical personnel change to address their inconsistent form, despite recent wins over West Ham and Manchester United in the past week. Many are calling for Kai Havertz to be dropped from the lineup, even though the German forward provided the assist for Saliba’s goal.
Adding to Havertz’s woes, Fulham fans taunted him as he was substituted at Craven Cottage, chanting: “Chelsea reject, Chelsea reject.” On social media, one Arsenal fan commented: “Both Jesus and Havertz so so poor. We need a proper centre forward desperately.” Another wrote: “Please sign another striker Havertz is not good enough…” A third supporter added: “Every ball into the box Havertz is nowhere to be seen it’s so jarring.”
Havertz has scored five goals in 14 league appearances this season, with Arteta trusting him as the team’s primary centre forward. Back in October, Arteta even suggested that Havertz could score 20 goals in a season, but it’s clear that not all Arsenal fans share the manager’s confidence.
