Arsenal has now identified its preferred candidate to sign a £54 million star, as Barcelona’s interest waned.

Arsenal appears to have an opening to sign Spanish winger Nico Williams as Barcelona’s interest in him has reportedly stalled. The 22-year-old, who has an impressive £54 million release clause, had previously been pursued by both clubs. However, Barcelona has reportedly cooled its interest after rejecting Williams’ wage demands, which ranged from £7.5 million to £8.3 million per season. Additionally, due to financial limitations, the Catalan club is now considering alternatives like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia of Napoli.

This situation presents Arsenal with an opportunity to acquire the talented winger, who has already contributed significantly to his team with 2 goals and 2 assists this season. Arsenal had previously shifted their focus to other targets like Raheem Sterling but are now reconsidering Williams. The Gunners could push ahead, especially as Barcelona’s financial constraints make it harder for them to pursue such a deal.
