Lewandowskiโs high salary occupies a significant portion of Barcelonaโs wage bill, making it difficult to afford Haalandโs transfer fee and wages. While Barcelona would be willing to offer Haaland a higher salary than he currently earns at City, they would need to sell other players to free up funds for the move.
With Haaland seemingly out of reach for the foreseeable future, Barcelona have turned their attention to other striker targets. Jonathan David of Lille is a potential option, as his contract expires at the end of the season. Barcelona are also monitoring Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig, but face competition from Arsenal and Manchester United for his signature.
Meanwhile, Manchester City are also interested in signing a new striker and have been linked with Karim Adeyemi of Borussia Dortmund. The 22-year-old is a versatile forward who can play on either wing or as a striker. Dortmund are known to be open to selling their best players for a profit, and City could be prepared to make a significant offer for Adeyemi.
While Adeyemi is currently focused on Dortmund and has no immediate desire to leave, his situation could change if a club like City or Liverpool comes calling.
