“I want EMIRATES return” – Another Arsenal player who left the Emirates due to a minor issue with Arteta is now asking the board for a second chance to return by January to help Arsenal win the Premier League.
Fabio Vieira is currently away from Arsenal, having joined Porto on loan for the season. Given Arsenal’s history of loaning players, it’s easy to think that Vieira is not part of their long-term plans.
However, despite his previous struggles for game time, Vieira is still considered a contender for a place in the Arsenal squad.
Recently, Fabrizio Romano provided an update on Vieira’s future with Arsenal. He clarified that the beliefs surrounding Vieira’s long-term status are not accurate. Arsenal is still evaluating Vieira’s situation and plans to reassess his role after the loan period.
Romano explained that Arsenal opted for a straightforward loan without a purchase option to maintain control over Vieira’s future. He stated: “After [Vieira] joined Porto on loan from Arsenal, many people started saying ‘okay, it’s over for Fabio Vieira at Arsenal’. What I’m told is that this is not the case. Arsenal only wanted to do a straight loan with no buy option included, because they want to assess the situation of Fabio Vieira again in one year.”
Assessing Vieira is complex because while he has potential, it remains untapped. He has had noteworthy moments in an Arsenal shirt, such as assisting Gabriel Martinelli against Aston Villa and Gabriel Jesus against Manchester United.
Yet, he does have weaknesses, including a lack of physical strength and inconsistent work rate, similar to criticisms faced by Mesut Ozil.
A successful loan spell in Portugal could be beneficial for Vieira. Let’s hope for the best.
