Mika Biereth, a former Arsenal striker now with Austrian club Sturm Graz, has shared his aspiration to return to the Premier League and Arsenal someday.
The 20-year-old Dane, who had difficulty making an impression at Arsenal, disclosed in a TV2 interview that although he is focused on performing well for Sturm Graz, he still hopes to reunite with the Gunners in the future. Biereth joined Arsenal from Fulham in 2021 but struggled to secure a place in Mikel Arteta’s starting lineup.
This led to several loan spells, including time at RKC Waalwijk, Motherwell, and ultimately Sturm Graz, where he has impressed enough for the club to make his transfer permanent.
Despite his current achievements in Austria, Biereth remains committed to his ultimate aim of playing for Arsenal in the Premier League again. “Things are going well at Sturm Graz. I play every week at a good level, and now we’re also competing in the Champions League, where I’m still waiting for my first goal,” Biereth stated.
He emphasized that while he is dedicated to excelling at his current club, he is open to the possibility of returning to North London if the chance arises. “A return to Arsenal would be fantastic, but it’s not something I’m focusing on at the moment,” he noted.
Biereth’s time at Arsenal was largely spent on the bench or out on loan, as he could not secure a consistent spot in the team.
Since his exit, Arsenal has not shown any immediate interest in re-signing him, and manager Mikel Arteta has expressed satisfaction with the club’s current attacking lineup.
Arteta’s forwards include Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz, and Leandro Trossard, who have all contributed to Arsenal’s recent successes. This depth in attack led Arteta to forgo signing a new striker during the summer transfer window, despite speculation about high-profile targets like Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak.
Even though Gabriel Jesus has faced fitness concerns and inconsistent play, Arteta seems confident in his ability to lead the attack.
Nonetheless, the Gunners continue to be linked with potential striker acquisitions, raising questions about the long-term prospects of Jesus and whether Arsenal may seek reinforcements down the line.
For now, Biereth’s route back to Arsenal is uncertain. While he dreams of a return, the club has not signaled any interest in re-signing him.
However, if Biereth maintains his strong performances at Sturm Graz, where he is getting regular first-team action and competing in the Champions League, there is a possibility he could attract Arsenal’s attention again.
Should that happen, Biereth may find himself with another opportunity to make an impact at the Emirates Stadium and achieve his goal of playing in the Premier League.
