The pots for the 2024/25 Champions League group-stage draw have now been finalised following tonight’s qualification results

The Catalan side has allowed Gundogan to leave for free, presenting an opportunity Man City is eager to seize, with Pep Guardiola keen to welcome his former captain back to the Etihad Stadium for the 2024/25 season.

Fabrizio Romano reports that all necessary paperwork for the transfer between Man City and Barcelona is now complete, making the deal imminent.

According to Romano, Gundogan is making a substantial financial sacrifice by waiving the remainder of his salary owed by Barcelona for the next two years of his contract.

Gundogan poised for a new chapter with Man City

Gundogan, who joined Barcelona last summer after a seven-year stint with Man City from 2016 to 2023, previously enjoyed tremendous success under Pep Guardiola. He made 304 appearances, scoring 60 goals and providing 38 assists.

His contributions included some of the most significant goals in Man Cityโ€™s history, with his crucial goals in the final match of the 2021/22 season against Aston Villa being especially memorable.

At 33, Gundogan remains a top-tier player, bringing valuable experience and intelligence to the team. His return will alleviate some of the pressure on Rodri, potentially playing a crucial role in Man Cityโ€™s performance this season.
