Man City holding out for £30m as Premier League side reject Saudi bid for key star

Man City holding out for £30m as Premier League side reject Saudi bid for key star. Man City have rejected a bid from Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli for Riyad Mahrez but the club are said to be confident of landing the winger.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Al Ahli submitted their first bid for Mahrez on Monday night; which was £18m plus £5m in add-ons and it was rejected by Manchester City. The Premier League champions are holding out for £30m and if that is met, the Manchester club will not stand in the Algerian’s way.

The Saudi Arabian club are said to be increasingly confident of signing the 32-year-old and hope to get it done soon.

Ben Jacobs claims that because Al Ahli and Mahrez have already agreed on personal terms, it is extremely likely that the winger would move to the Middle East once a transfer fee has been decided.

Over the past five years, Mahrez has been a key player for Pep Guardiola, but last season, his significance waned. The 32-year-old Algerian star lost his spot in the City manager’s top eleven despite playing 47 games and contributing to 15 goals and 13 assists.

The former Leicester star might believe that his time at City is almost up, and this summer might be the ideal time to cash in with Al Ahli offering him a large sum of money to leave.
