Manchester United fans are furious after David de Gea leaves the club to join rivals and his replacement is revealed

De Gea’s contract is set to expire next week despite months of negotiations over an extension; Diogo Costa and David Raya are also targets for United in addition to Onana; Chelsea have previously been linked with the 27-year-old.
When David de Gea’s contract expires at the end of June, it becomes more likely that he will leave Manchester United. According to 90min, the club is prepared for this scenario by trying to sign Inter’s Andre Onana.
After previously being close to an agreement on new terms, the Red Devils and the Spaniard are currently in the middle of negotiations over a new contract.
In order to work out the details of a new deal at Old Trafford, De Gea turned down a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia earlier in June. However, he is now more likely than ever to depart United at the end of the month.
90min reported on Tuesday that United were actively looking at the goalkeeper market as talks with De Gea rumbled on, with Porto’s Diogo Costa and Brentford’s David Raya among their targets. Another name on their radar was Onana, who worked under manager Erik ten Hag at Ajax, and sources have revealed to 90min that the club have held talks with the player’s camp in recent days.
United have also been in touch with Inter and have been informed that it would take a total fee of €60m to get him out of San Siro this transfer window – Chelsea had previously been in talks with Inter over Onana but were put off by the asking price.
United’s summer transfer intentions will be drastically altered if they go through with a bid for Onana. They had hoped De Gea would stay and be replaced by a less expensive player, but if the 32-year-old leaves, they will be forced to spend big on a ready-made replacement.
90min previously disclosed that United had anticipated that Matej Kovar, a promising goalkeeper who had an outstanding loan stint at Sparta Prague, would provide the necessary competition for De Gea.
Guglielmo Vicario, the Empoli goalkeeper whom United reportedly monitored at times last season, is reportedly on the verge of joining Premier League rivals Tottenham.
