Harry Kane has left Tottenham this evening to join Premier League rivals.
If Karim Benzema decides to join the Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad, insiders have told 90min that Harry Kane is Real Madrid’s top pick to replace him.
Madrid has long been a fan of Kane, but they didn’t expect to need to replace Benzema until the summer of 2019 because he had signed to a one-year extension.
Benzema’s contract hasn’t been completed, but it’s currently believed that he and Al-Ittihad are close to finalizing a two-year agreement for him to play in Saudi Arabia’s Pro-League.
Real’s transfer squad, lead by Juni Calafat, is now putting plans in place to replace Karim Benzema, and 90min has been informed that their main target is Harry Kane after doing extensive research on the captain of Tottenham.
Even though Kane just has one year left on his current contract, Tottenham’s management has already made it clear that they do not intend to move him this summer.
This summer, Kane is also Manchester United’s top transfer target, but Spurs CEO Daniel Levy is unwilling to work with any other Premier League team. Although much will rely on Kane’s view on his future and whether or not he pushes to leave the club this summer, that fact may very well open the door to Madrid.
They have backup plans in case acquiring Kane proves to be too challenging, which may be the case. Victor Osimhen of Napoli is one of these additional options. He is a target for both Chelsea and United this summer and is currently playing for Napoli. They might also reignite their interest in Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain, however a deal would not be deemed feasible given that Lionel Messi is expected to leave and Neymar’s future is uncertain.
During the most recent UNFP awards ceremony, Mbappe also recently expressed his intention to remain at PSG for at least one more season.
