Chelsea women’s manager Emma Hayes is set to become the manager of this Premier League club

Chelsea have been surprisingly urged to replace Frank Lampard with Emma Hayes, the manager of their Women’s squad.

Chelsea have been encouraged to appoint Blues Women’s manager Emma Hayes in place of Frank Lampard.

Hayes has been a big success in the women’s game, but we have yet to see a female head coach take command of a Premier League men’s club.

Despite this, talkSPORT host Andy Goldstein believes Hayes should be given the Chelsea manager’s job following the club’s poor record under Lampard.

“I’ve got the answer to Chelsea’s problems. And this is me being 100 per cent serious,” Goldstein said.

“It’s not working for Frank Lampard, for whatever reason he is out of his depth.

“They need someone that’s already working at the club, someone who is incredibly successful, someone who knows how to organise a team. They’re only going to come in for four games and then carry on with what they’re doing.

“I don’t understand why they don’t get rid of Frank Lampard and give it to Emma Hayes.

“She obviously completely and utterly understands what it’s like to be in charge of a successful team – she’s already there at Chelsea.

“I think they’ve played 11 games the Chelsea women, so it’s early on in their season, but there’s four games left here [for the men’s team]. I’m sure she can do both.”
